Add Project Settings option for Number Formatting to apply to all tables (not shown via reports)

As a TBMA, I would like to see numbers displayed in non-report tables displayed in TBM Studio formatted with a thousands and/or decimal places, when defined in a new "Number Formatting" option in Project Settings. The formatting will not only assist me in quickly reviewing (including QA'ing) numeric data, but also assist with other stakeholders' ability to quickly assess numeric values.

Today, TBMAs and other stakeholders observing numbers in non-report tables in TBM Studio are forced to count the number of characters to the left of the decimal to determine the true value of a large number instead of quickly looking and recognizing the number as millions vs thousands. For example, non-report tables' numbers are displayed like so...

Looking at the total number it's difficult to accurately identify it's representing 431M without first counting how many numbers appear to the left of the decimal.

I propose adjusting the Project Settings dialog to include a Number Format option to control the number of decimal places to show and/or to show the (thousands) Grouping Separator. Something similar to the mockup provided below...

I will know the Project Setting is working successfully by defining the Number Format options and observing the non-report tables' numeric columns in TBM Studio showing numbers formatted with defined Decimal Places and using the Grouping Separator....similar to this screenshot....

The idea is purely a UX enhancement to improve readability in TBM Studio of Number typed fields displayed in previews of table output. It should not affect allocations or calculations.

Take a look at the example data below. It's difficult to quickly determine if the larger total number (starting with 284) is billions or millions.

The proposal could control how the number is displayed by changing it from...

    284143524548.807

    ...to...

    284,143,524,548.807

...and make it far easier to read and quickly conclude the number represents millions...not billions.

Hi Satya.  Your comment is understood, however it is not what this request is about. This request is not seeking explanation of how things work today; this request is about improving the capabilities and user experiences of customers tomorrow. I share Matt Temple's desire to have number formatting in TBM Studio tables.  For me, specifically, we should allow configurable precision to be displayed to the right of the decimal point.  Today, Studio rounds decimal precision in unpredictable ways, and this has caused challenges in configuration, and validating correct configuration.  The only way for me to see the true value out to many digits of precision is to download the table to CSV, setting the precision in the download dialogue box.  Then I can open in excel, inspect the actual data, and adjust configuration as necessary.  This is needlessly complicated.

IBM ApptioOne by default displays upto 3 decimal places, however for calculation it uses upto 7 decimal places. This is not a configurable option. For more information please refer to the URL: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/apptio-commercial/tbm-studio/saas?topic=started-apptioone-precision
