Additional field recognized as numeric needed for contract variance analysis.

We are maturing our planning capabilities and have come to the conclusion that a 3% price increase on our contracts is no longer sufficient across the board. In order to forecast more accurately, we are comparing a vendor's current contract price against the prior contract price to use the last increase/decrease as a baseline on planning for the next contract price. We are able to capture both amounts in the forecast....current contract in the Amount column and a custom column we've created to track the previous contract price. The custom column allows for numeric entry, however, it does not sum as a total in the "Total" row at the bottom of the forecast. Because of this, when attempting to create an automation report in Apptio BI that calculates the % change between current and prior contract price, Apptio BI is unable to do so because it can't recognize the custom column as numeric. If it could, then it would be possible to build a report in Apptio BI that would automatically calculate these changes without having to export and calculate outside the Apptio environment. This would benefit all customers that are looking to forecast each individual contract more accurately and not apply a blanket % increase to all contracts. Given how drastic inflation has been over the last couple of years, this level of analysis seems more important than ever. While this type of analysis can be done manually, there is definitely an opportunity here to bring this type of automation inside the Apptio environments, as opposed to having to export the data and complete the analysis outside of Apptio.

Numeric fields should display a total in the Total row. We plan to include this update in an upcoming release.
