Driver sensitivity analysis without having to re-upload to a ‘what-if’ branch

  • Customer's current workflow is to run a Budget/Forecast (as of a point in time) is to export the latest month’s transformed & consolidated rule/drivers set and upload that as a direct input into their Budget/Forecast models in the project (vs having to upload each input individually for each month)
  • If any underlying inputs are changing from that last month’s output (i.e. large IT server purchase expected in 4 months), they need to create a ‘what-if’ branch and re-upload that particular variable and then export/input the new consolidated rule output back into the trunk for the corresponding months
  • Is there a way to sensitize particular inputs & generate a new rule set/results without having to re-upload the underlying data?

@Shweta Shivani  One option is to use an editable table to allow someone to enter changes in the reporting surface and see the resulting impact.  There are different ways this could be done based on the type of 'what-if' comparisons you are trying to accomplish and how much data is to be changed.

For example, if you wanted to do worst case, best case, most likely case for some % adjustments, that could be incorporated into the workflow by creating an editable table which is published to a transform table with a formula adjustment based on the % value.  The end user would be able to change the values in the reporting surface without re-uploading data.  NOTE:  depending upon the size and complexity of the cost model, it will take time to calculate.
