Dynamic navigation option from a table - links to specific reports depending on table row contents

Looking for a way of providing user dynamic and tailorable navigation to specific use case reports from a single source.  In this case to get to use cases for specific Service Names in the service taxonomy - potentially a report per Service Name so could be 100+ options

Given the need for ease of access, security etc etc we are sold on the idea of a persona based approach to navigation and also for RLS to support the restriction of options. Consequently a table driven navigation has been selected

From a usability point of view this is ticking all the boxes and we have a drill from the different Service taxonomy levels (Type – Category – Name) to a generic services review report – what is also critical is the ability to drive directly to specific reports based on the Service Name in the table. e.g. Service “Computer” goes to an end user devices specific report, while service “Mobile” goes to a mobile specific report – and so on for the 100 or so services

To reduce the clicks to content we need that link to be available in the report table directly from the home screen so they can click on the use case link and it fires up the required specific report.

The alternative is to go to a generic use case landing page and select the use case report from there – this is a longer navigation path and pretty ugly.


I have been experimenting with html and <a href=...> in the formula columns and get extremely close, I can construct a valid URL that 'should' work, when hovered over in the cell my cursor changes to a link cursor but clicking on the actual link in the cell results in no action (nothing happens)
