Function to allow the controlled display of an allocated value from a lower object

Being able to set the Columns of a table to be the column of a lower object (i.e. a drill table) is extremely useful in showing the makeup of costs - eg the Cost Pools contributing to an application, you see the values at Cost Source categorised by Cost Pool as it is allocated to a particular Application .

The issue is that this is hard to control in more complex reporting tables - for example if you want to add additional Value columns to your report for say Price x Quantity or any calculated values then you can't drag in a Columns config without the table spinning out over all your calculated columns. Also it is highly variable as to the display of the results, while you can now order the columns you can end up with tons of white space and a table that jumps around in formatting depending on the allocations from below.

What I have found from users is that they want some certainty about how these tables appear - much as the structure of an Excel table is fixed as well as the ability to create complex tables with complete control over the individual columns.

There used to be a feature in Apptio called FILTERUNITS which did exactly what I was after but after investigation with Apptio Support this no longer exists and there is no way of replicating this function with current functions or without dramatically complicating the model (screen shot of the original FilterUnits feature description and use included)

So, if you'd like complete config control over the ability to display allocated values from lower objects please help raise this suggested idea's profile. Thanks

Adding to the product roadmap.  We will include this feature request as part of our modernization effort in 2025.   This will be dependent upon the R12 architecture (vs. R11) and whether engineering can support this capability.
