Power Bi connector for TBM Studio

While TBM Studio provides robust Technology Business Management analytics and cost transparency capabilities, its native reporting and visualization options can be limiting, especially for organizations that have standardized on Microsoft's Power BI as their enterprise reporting platform. Adding a Power BI connector to TBM Studio would significantly enhance the value of Apptio's data by enabling finance and IT leaders to blend TBM cost allocation, showback/chargeback, and infrastructure data with other enterprise data sources—such as HR, project management, and operational metrics—within a single, unified reporting environment. This integration would reduce the need for manual data exports and reconciliation, accelerating time-to-insight and minimizing the risk of errors that come with handling data outside governed pipelines. Furthermore, many stakeholders who consume IT financial data may not have direct access to Apptio licenses or may lack familiarity with its interface; a Power BI connector democratizes access to critical cost transparency data, allowing it to be embedded in executive dashboards, board presentations, and cross-functional reports where decision-makers already operate.

Having used ATP for the last few years, I can say without hesitation the single biggest point of friction for my development is the lack of a Power Bi connector. Currently we have to use the streaming API to create our own Fabric Lakehouses which includes multiple complex Rest based data flows as well a custom python code in some instances. Being able to access and report on data is a mission critical function for any business management application.
