Introduce a “Current Fiscal Year” default KPI display option in expense tab so summaries automatically align to the active fiscal year while still allowing users to change the timeframe as needed

Today, Apptio KPI summaries can display unexpected totals depending on individual user configuration (e.g., First Year of Plan, Selected Timeframe, or Rolling 4 Quarter Forecast). This often results in dashboards continuing to show prior‑year values (for example, FY2025) even after teams have moved into a new fiscal year (FY2026), creating confusion and additional manual validation work.

The proposed enhancement is to introduce “Current Fiscal Year” as the default KPI display setting for all users, based on the system fiscal calendar. (or an option for the plan owner to choose what will be the default KPI filter option in the plan). This setting would not be fixed or locked—users would still be able to switch to another timeframe (such as Rolling Forecast or Selected Timeframe) if needed for specific analysis.

This approach ensures that, by default, executive summaries and standard views consistently reflect the correct fiscal year as time progresses, while preserving flexibility for advanced users and special use cases. It balances standardization with user control and eliminates reliance on manual per‑user configuration changes.

Hi @Guest we do currently have a settings to configure the default behavior of the KPIs on the expenses page. Currently users can configure it to be either First Year of the Plan or the Selected Timeframe. Please see the screenshot below.
