This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Tag Datalink Connector Jobs to Correlate Calculation Queue Builds/Calculation Explorer metrics

We would like Apptio Datalink to support a tagging mechanism that allows Datalink connector jobs to be correlated with the corresponding builds in the calculation queue. This tagging should be available during the Datalink connection wizard when connector jobs are initially created or established.

The tag would provide a consistent way to associate:

  • Single connector jobs
  • Group connector jobs
  • Their related calculation queue builds

This correlation would then allow users to identify which Datalink job triggered which build and to surface the associated build times in the Calculation Explorer dashboard, where build duration metrics and details are currently reported.

Current Challenge:
At present, it is difficult to trace:

  • Which Datalink connector job maps to a specific calculation queue build
  • Which build duration belongs to a given Datalink job
  • How Datalink activity affects downstream calculation performance

This makes troubleshooting and performance analysis more manual and time-consuming.

Requested Enhancement:

  • Add a tagging field or tag assignment in the Datalink connection wizard
  • Allow the tag to be applied to both single connectors and group connectors
  • Use the tag to correlate Datalink connector jobs with calculation queue builds
  • Display the related build times and build details in Calculation Explorer
  • Make build duration metrics traceable back to the originating Datalink job

Business Value:

  • Improves traceability between Datalink jobs and calculation builds
  • Reduces manual effort in investigating build activity
  • Helps identify performance issues more quickly
  • Provides better visibility into build duration and execution patterns
  • Supports more effective monitoring and operational governance
