This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Currently if you have this formula
=If(value< 99999, use-this, use-that)
If use-this or use-that are invalid syntactically (for example do not exist) then we expect an error to be shown.
However, if *current* data does not exercise one path then that path will not be validated and the formula will appear valid.
As an example:
=If (value <= 99999, column-name, non-existent-column-name)
If there are no entries in column "value" that are currently greater than 99999 then it will not show the formula as being in error because it does not test that "non-existent-column-name" exists.
This is really a design flaw because if some data is later added into "value" that is greater than 99999 it will fail. But it will fail silently and no one will know until they look to see if there are any errors.
This error could and should be identified when the user enters the incorrect syntax. Otherwise there is a risk that the user will be presented with incorrect data with no warning.
Monitoring for broader interest.
