Increased Functionality of ADM between Planning and Costing

Increasing the functionality and integration capabilities between Planning and Costing for data, tables, and reference data management would significantly improve both usability and operational efficiency. Currently, reference data can only be pushed from Costing to Planning, limiting flexibility and creating dependency on TBM Studio as the primary source for updates.

For organizations that prefer Planning to serve as the system of record, the only available option is to disable applicable ADM connectors and implement a manual process for maintaining and synchronizing reference data. This introduces additional administrative overhead and increases the risk of data inconsistencies between Planning and Costing.

Providing bidirectional reference data management and improved integration between the two solutions would deliver several benefits:

  • Simplify administration for TBMAs by reducing manual synchronization efforts.
  • Improve data consistency and governance across Planning and Costing.
  • Enable business users to manage reference data through the more intuitive Planning interface rather than relying on TBM Studio.
  • Accelerate business processes and support evolving workflows by reducing delays in data updates.
  • Allow for more frequent, near real-time synchronization of information between platforms.
  • Reduce the risk of missed, delayed, or inaccurate data transfers that can impact downstream reporting and planning activities.

Ultimately, enhanced interoperability between Planning and Costing would improve the user experience, increase operational efficiency, and allow organizations to achieve business objectives more quickly while maintaining greater confidence in the accuracy and timeliness of their data.
