Frontdoor Permission for Private, Non-Shareable Views

Request is for a new permission configuration within Frontdoor access model that allows users to create and manage their own private views but restricts them from sharing those views with others.

  • Ability to create, edit, and delete personal views
  • Restriction that prevents sharing or publishing those views to other users or groups

Background:

Today, Frontdoor permissions offer granular control over data visibility and sharing within Cloudability. However, the existing permission sets do not cleanly separate the ability to create views from the ability to share them. In enterprise environments, especially those with centralized governance models, this limits flexibility for end users who need personalized reporting views for their own analysis but must adhere to strict data control policies. Users could share data to users who are otherwise not authorized to view it, effectively circumventing our data control policy.

Benefits:

  • Reduces administrative overhead by allowing users to self-serve while maintaining governance over shared content.
  • Prevents proliferation of unmanaged or inconsistent shared views.
  • Aligns with enterprise controls requiring that only designated roles (e.g. FinOps admins) can public shared reports.
