Default Dashboard Setup for New Cloudability User Logins

I am raising this idea on behalf of my customer, who highlighted this requirement during a recent discussion around improving user onboarding and adoption in Cloudability. Currently, when a new user logs into the platform, they land on a default personal dashboard that is automatically created. This dashboard does not provide guidance on how to use the platform or where to start, which can create confusion for new users. As mentioned by the customer, users often log in, explore briefly and then move back to other tools because they are unsure how to navigate Cloudability.

Customer suggested the ability to configure a default onboarding dashboard for all new users, so that when someone logs in for the first time, they are directed to a structured dashboard with guidance and key insights.

Example of how this could work

When a new user logs into Cloudability, instead of landing on the automatically created personal dashboard, they could land on a “Welcome to Cloudability” dashboard(something that can be created now by customers) that includes a "text widget" signifies the following:

  1. Welcome message explaining the purpose of Cloudability and how it helps track and optimize cloud costs.
  2. Quick Start Guide with simple instructions.
  3. Helpful links or instructions, such as links to the internal FinOps wiki, documentation or guidance on using Cloudability features.

Significance of this feature

  • Provides a guided onboarding experience for new users
  • Reduces confusion during first time login
  • Helps users quickly understand where to start in the platform
  • Encourages exploration of key Cloudability features
  • Improves overall user adoption and retention within the tool

Overall, enabling organizations to setup a default dashboard for new users would help create a more structured and user friendly onboarding experience in Cloudability.

I have uploaded a diagram of how we can setup the "New Default Dashboard" in the UI -> "Users and Group".
