Automated Report Delivery to Amazon S3

Enable the automated delivery of scheduled IBM Cloudability reports directly to a user-configured Amazon S3 bucket to streamline data integration and archival processes.

Currently, retrieving reports often requires manual intervention or individual downloads, which creates friction for teams looking to automate their FinOps workflows. By enabling direct S3 integration, organizations can create seamless data pipelines, feed information into external BI tools, and maintain long-term audit trails without manual overhead.

Beneficiaries include:

FinOps Teams: to automate cost analysis and reporting cycles

Data Engineers: to ingest Cloudability data into centralized data lakes or warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, or Athena) for custom analysis.

Cloud Architects: to ensure consistent, automated archival of cost data for compliance and governance.

How it should work:

Configuration: Within the properties of any report, allow an option to Subscribe. Have the user specify an "Output Destination" option alongside notification settings.

Authentication: Provide a secure method to input AWS credentials or, preferably, an IAM Role ARN for cross-account access to the target S3 bucket.

Pathing: Allow users to specify the bucket name and an optional prefix/folder path for organized storage.

Format Selection: Allow users to select their preferred file format (e.g., csv, JSON, or Parquet) for the delivered file.

Scheduling: Allow the ability to trigger the S3 upload automatically upon report generation (e.g., daily, weekly, or monthly).

Security: (Optional) It would be nice if the implementation could support server-side encryption (SSE-S3 or SSE-KMS).
