Way of reporting workload optimization tasks & savings that aren't in scope for Cloudability Rightsizing

We’ve found a gap in how we report workload optimization savings that Cloudability doesn’t cover today. If an optimization is not a Rightsize Opportunity in Cloudability, then we cannot create a ticket, and so Rightsize ROI does not count the savings for that environment.

For example, many environments that were lifted and shifted from on‑prem data centers were not built for the cloud. They often cost more and, if they are fully utilized, they never appear in Rightsize Recommendations.

Some application teams are modernizing these environments, and some have moved to serverless designs, which led to significant cloud cost savings. However, Cloudability has no way to report those savings.

To capture this, we are looking at using Microsoft Forms to feed data into a PowerBI report. Ideally, Cloudability would be able to support this type of reporting directly.

I understand there could be a concern about accuracy and what Apptio can confidently support. To address this, you could use two separate savings categories: Cloudability Reported Savings and User Reported Savings. This makes it clear that User Reported Savings are not verified by Apptio. The accuracy of the User Reported Savings would depend on the checks and controls the organization puts in place.

Thanks for the suggestion! We are looking to improve Rightsizing usability this year and this will be something we will take into consideration.
