Cloud Management and AIOps

This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Create recomendations that are valid at availability zone level.

Cloudability is recommending a migration to an instance type that isn’t available in the availability zone where the resource currently runs. IBM Support has confirmed this is expected behaviour: Cloudability generates cost-optimisation recommendations at the region level, not the availability zone level, and zone-specific recommendations would require additional product development

For example, a GCE Managed Instance Group (MIG), Cloudability recommends migrating from n1-standard-4 to c4d-highmem-2. While the move to a high-memory profile is reasonable, the recommendation targets the C4D machine family, which is not available in europe-west2-c (the zone used by the referenced resource). As a result, the recommendation is not actionable in its current form because the proposed instance type cannot be deployed in that zone.

We’re seeing an increase in these occurrences and expect further growth, as CSPs are not offering all instance types across every availability zone due to current global challenges.

Thanks for the suggestion! We are looking to improve Rightsizing usability this year and this will be something we will take into consideration.
