Resource ID Tracking in Cloudability ROI

Currently, Cloudability tracks Azure Virtual Machines using the Resource Name as the unique identifier, which causes lineage breaks when a VM is terminated and recreated under a new Resource ID. This limitation prevents customers from validating ROI savings with complete accuracy, especially in scenarios where multiple instances share the same resource name.

We propose an enhancement to enable Resource ID-based tracking within Cloudability ROI. By incorporating Resource ID as a persistent identifier, customers would gain:

Precise visibility into which specific resources were impacted.

Accurate correlation of realized savings, even across terminate-and-recreate events.

Reduced need for manual investigation in Azure Activity Logs.

Greater confidence in ROI reporting and transparency for finance and operations teams.
