Selectively reprocess data for only specific Business Mappings and date ranges.

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

Currently, IBM Cloudability lacks the ability to selectively reprocess data for specific business mappings. When a business rule changes for one business dimension, users are forced to reprocess all mappings, even those that were previously accurate for historical data. This leads to unintended data alterations, disrupting historical analysis and reporting.

Implement a feature that allows users to request a reprocess of data for specific business mappings with granular time-range control. This would enable users to:

  • Target specific mappings: Choose which mappings (e.g., Application, Environment, Cost Center) to reprocess.
  • Specify time ranges: Define custom time ranges for each mapping being reprocessed (e.g., reprocess all data for Application, but only the last month for Cost Center).
  • Preserve historical accuracy: Avoid unintended changes to historical data in mappings that were previously accurate.

Imagine a scenario where a company restructures its cost center allocation. A new rule invalidates certain cost centers for future transactions. However, these cost centers were valid for past periods. Then the user needs to update the "Application" mapping (which might involve a full data reprocess) due to a new application tag. Currently, they must also reprocess the "Cost Center" mapping, which would incorrectly invalidate historical cost center data. With the proposed feature, the user could:

  • Reprocess the "Application" mapping for all historical data.
  • Reprocess the "Cost Center" mapping only for the latest month, reflecting the new rule without altering past data.
