Problem:
Right now when data is grouped by day, month, etc. the data can only be sorted by the dimensions alphabetically in the Edit UI and for a report view. This means as a report owner I can't display the most costly items at the top of the table, as an example. As a report viewer there is no way to sort the table by the values in the measure columns. In order for a viewer to get a table with date breakdowns sorted by a measure they need to export the table to csv, open and sort it locally. That is tedious and time consuming. The ability to sort tabular data in a reporting tool is a bare minimum requirement that isn't being met today.

 

Request:

1. For report owners/editors - be able to sort all table visualizations but measures in the Edit UI, such that what is shown in the table by default can be sorted by measure.

2. For report viewers - be able to interact with a report visual and sort the table by any column, not just the dimension columns. They should be able to click at the top of any column in the table and be able to sort the rest of the table by that column.
