Instana on OpenShift Route Flexibility

Hi,

My customer has a question about Instana route definitions on OCP. Basically, they have an OCP console address like console-openshift-console.apps.ocpcluster.ibm.com. According to the document;

- basedn URL should be like instana.apps.ocpcluster.ibm.com

- URL for ingress/agent should be like agent.instana.apps.ocpcluster.ibm.com

- tenant URL should be like unit0-tenant0.instana.apps.ocpcluster.ibm.com

If we configured the routes according to the documents everything works fine but the customer complained about SSL certificates that don’t cover the subdomain. They have a *.apps.ocpcluster.ibm.com wildcard certificate and it covers only one subdomain. They are emphasizing that that behavior is also against application deployment best practices of OpenShift. So, they need the flexibility to define any route for Instana.

    Hi Kurtulus,

    thanks for this idea, after our initial discussion I went back to the team. We see value in this idea, however the change is significant and therefore is not in scope in the short-term.

    We are happy to reevaluate this in 6 months this OpenShift improvement, should we see renewed interest.
