One problem, one entry on Issue page via Agent API

If I want to indicate to Instana there is somewhere a problem then there is a possibility to make a custom issue via Agent API (http://localhost:42699/com.instana.plugin.generic.event). We use this facility. There is a custom http(s) protocol monitoring script which analyzed not just status code of the result but the content of the result (soap). If some of the monitored services are in bad condition then an issue is made via Agent API. It is done by shall script scheduled with cron. I created the bash script such a way that the state of the problem is remembered. If the problem raises then an issue is made. While the problem is last no other issue is made. When the problem is ceased then a “closed”(offline?) issue is made.

The problem with this way that every call of Agent API make a different entry on Issue page in Instana.

Make it possible to create an issue via the Agent API, such as internal issues, e.g referenced by issue id.

    what you are asking for is already possible using the event API. Please check out our public documentation on the event API here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=apis-host-agent-rest-api#event-sdk-web-service

    For completeness, use the additional path property in the event JSON to identify a previous event with the same path value. This will extend the duration of the single event entity.
