RELATED IDEAS

.Net core Windows service should auto discover without adding the Nuget package(Instana.Tracing.Core.Rewriter.Windows).

In order to setup the monitoring for .Net core Windows service we need to install Nuget package (Instana.Tracing.Core.Rewriter.Windows) and rebuild/publish the application which requires a new release and therefore we need a solution which will auto discover the .Net core service without installing nuget package.

    Autotrace webhook didn't work hence we raised this. Its not good that Instana doesn't support this when your competitors support this.

    Hello George,
    Thank you for raising the request. We suggest Autotrace webhook if you are in K8s, as we do not have immediate plans(next 12 months) to support this feature

    Same for .net core applications on linux. In such cases we need use Instana.Tracing.Core.Rewriter.Linux. Need Instana to auto instrument .net core applications without need of nuget package and build recompile.

    Adding nuget package and recompiling applications will lead lot of churns with higher number of applications we have. We had similar problem with AppDynamics as well and they released updated agents that avoided nuget requirements.
