Openshift kubelet monitoring using Prometheus

I'm looking for a way to monitor the Openshift Prometheus metrics, more specifically the metrics that are exposed by kubelet. kubelet exposes a metric called 'kubelet_volume_stats_available_bytes', but i can't find it in the list of metrics that the Prometheus sensor discovers.
The Prometheus sensor on Openshift has been configured as:
com.instana.plugin.prometheus:
poll_rate: 15 # Default is 1 second
customMetricSources:
- url: '/metrics' # metrics endpoint, the IP and port are auto-discovered
metricNameIncludeRegex: '.*volume.*'

This results in 20 different /metrics targets (exposed by the applications that are installed on Openshift), but none of them shows the metric 'kubelet_volume_stats_available_bytes'.
The reason might be that the default Prometheus targets are secured with the Openshift bearer token, while the Prometheus sensor only accepts a username/password authentication.

Therefore i would like to have the option for the Prometheus sensor to specify a bearer token or TLS certificate so it can authenticate with kubelet.

That's correct! I see you've commented on that and so we can keep track on that Idea.

    Hi Jayanth,

    Yes, that's right.

You are referring to https://ideas.ibm.com/ideas/INSTANA-I-1357, correct?

    Thanks!

Hi @Guest ! Nice to e-meet you. I'm Jayanth, the PM for Kubernetes at Instana.

For the metric you're looking for: kubelet_volume_stats_available_bytes, are you looking for this metric because you're trying to track usage of PVC/PVs? (if so, we have support for this as of the last few releases, and I can provide more info on that)
