This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Hi Team,
Smart alerts option using "Unexpected High or Low Number of Calls" will not completely cover the scenarios, it would be better to have an option to select specific time range for the alert to be active. Please help to check further. Thanks !
Smart Alerts can already adapt to the underlying metric that's being evaluated. For your use case, you could:
Create an Application Perspective for the calls in scope (i.e., calls. made to specific Kubernetes Pod)
Create a Smart Alert on that Application Perspective using the Throughput template (i.e., "Unexpected High or Low Number of Calls")
Choose the Static Daily Seasonal threshold or Static Weekly Seasonal threshold (a dynamic threshold derived from analysing historical data and composed of a unique threshold value for each Evaluation Granularity that repeats itself every 24 hours of 7 days respectively)
Adjust the sensitivity as you see fit
As our application supports UK customers, we expect more traffic only during UK day time. Observability tool expected to be flexible to adopt required business use cases.
Could you help us understand why alerts sent out beyond UK day time would be deemed as false positives?
Hi Sivasundar,
"Volume monitoring" alerts I refer to the number of calls made to specific application/ kubernetes pod
For example I need to observe if one pod is taking minimum 100 calls every hour - only during UK day time, we don't have an option to define the timeframe for the alerts to be active.
Also we don't see seasonal/ adaptive thresholds in smart alert config.
By "volume alerting", you are referring to throughput or number of calls made to a service or endpoint?
Did you have a chance to try out seasonal or adaptive thresholds in Smart Alerts for Applications?
On July 25th, NatWest requested IBM to please prioritise this Idea for an early resolution / development!
