I am happy to announce that the rootless Podman support has been delivered in the latest version of Instana Agent.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Hello,
since months "vm with podman" is a standard platform offering in out company and product teams are encouraged to migrate their applications into such a container-based solution (if they cannot directly step over to k8s).
Therefore meanwhile we have >140 vms with podman-based applications and the count is constantly increasing.
It is business-critical, tha such migrated applcations can no longer be monitored by Instana and we need this problem solved urgent!
We're currently in the year 2024 CE... And with ransomware and other possibilities of intrusion being a daily risk in sysops, it is still not a priority for a company like IBM to support a rootless environment? This isn't some big feature request, it should have been implemented years ago. The flippancy is astounding.
One of the main reasons to use podman vs docker is the rootless functionality. Can't understand why IBM is not able to support this essential feature which is promoted by RedHat an IBM Company ...
We need this functionality for our environment wiuth hundrets of container. Rooless is mandatory. The request for this support is some years old and was prommised years ago.
We also need this feature for our customer with hundrets of podman containers. Example Ticket TS013411264
Our roadmap for 1H is full due to multiple escalations and customer/prospect commitments.
We will reconsider this feature afterward.
Associate to case no. TS014174390 that raised for Bafin:
Our monitoring solution for Humio which contain processes such as Kafka and Zookeeper running using Podman. This is essential for bafin to monitor these processes.
Kindly consider this priority for your review. Thanks!
