Hi Everyone,
Support for PHP 8.1 (PHP sensor 1.1.75 with PHP Instana extension 1.17.0) is now GA.
For Dynamic agents it would be available with tonight's download.
There is no need to configure anything in particular for this, with one exception: If a customer has used the beta release for PHP 8.1 support (extension version 1.17.0RC2) previously, they need to remove the setting com.instana.plugin.php.tracing.pinExtensionVersion from their agents’ configuration.yaml file.
The GA version will also be compatible with the supported lower PHP versions, removing the restriction in the Beta.
For static agents, it will be available with their next release.
Thank you All for your support and patience.
Thank you v much,
Regards,
Senthil
IBM Instana Engineering
Hi Folks,
Thanks a lot for your patience and apologies for the delay.
We have a release candidate with tracing support for PHP 8.1 available now.
To use this release candidate, add the following configuration in the Instana host agent’s configuration file (<instana-agent-dir>/etc/instana/configuration.yaml):
com.instana.plugin.php:
tracing:
pinExtensionVersion: 1.17.0RC2
In case the configuration file already has settings for “com.instana.plugin.php”, append the “pinExtensionVersion: 1.17.0RC2" line to the “tracing” section. (See https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=agent-host-configuration#agent-configuration-file for details on the agent configuration and https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=technologies-monitoring-php#configuration for more details on configuring PHP monitoring.)
Please note that the release candidate has the following limitations:
* At this time, the release candidate supports PHP 8.1 only. It is not available for PHP 8.0 or lower. Please do not apply this configuration on hosts which run a mix of PHP 8.1 and earlier PHP versions.
* The release candidate is only available via dynamic Instana host agents, not for static agents (see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=instana-host-agent#host-agent-types).
* The release candidate requires version 1.1.72 of the agent plug-in “Instana - PHP - Discovery PHP”. This has been rolled out yesterday, so your dynamic agents have already downloaded it automatically.
We recommend to test the release candidate in a non-production environment before deploying it to your production system.
In the meantime we will test backward compatibility to have a final release that can be used across all PHP versions, which we plan to release next month.
If you have any questions or feedback, please let us know.
Thanks for reaching out. We plan to release our support for PHP 8.1 by the end of November.
is there any updates about supporting php8.1 ?
How can we get a roadmap info on when this wil become supported?
This is becoming a MUST. I have some renewals at risk due Instana not supporting php 8.1 .
This is in active development.
