Data Retention after Out of Memory error.

IBM Support Ticket TS014348006 describes a scenario where data in Instana is removed after a JVM on a host suffers an Out of Memory error. We can understand why data would not be available from the time of the error and until service is restored, but it seems counter intuitive that data that was once showing in the tool has been flushed, deleted or erased for the time period before the error occurred. Since valuable troubleshooting data has been removed leading up to the failure, we feel that our troubleshooting capabilities have been diminished.

    Hello,

    Instana snapshots are created every time a new process comes up, which includes whether the process was restarted because of OOM error. So, the new metrics are available in a new dashboard while the old metrics should be available in another dashboard, because technically they are two different processes. Please check this and let me know if it doesn't work for you.
