Need to enhance the AIX / LPAR monitoring as the basic monitoring is not sufficient to understand the performance problems.

After speaking to the IBM Power Sales team, existing AIX metrices are not sufficient even when enhanced with the IBM pHMC sensor metrices.

The customers are relying on the vmstat/iostat/nmon commands to extract reports and do manual work of assessing the performance of the IBM Power series servers which run critical workloads.

Below are some of the metrices they expect in Instana which can address this pain point.

CPU:
Physical Busy
Phys C
Processor folding

Type: dedicated/ donate

Memory:
Processor%
FSCache%

Process utilization:
Individual workload process resource utilizations

Hardware Threadlevel consumption monitoring

IO part:

Shared ethernet adapter
SRIOV
virtual NIC utilization at LPAR level and Port level

our teams are available for further discussions on expectations to make Instana go-to tool for Power customers.
