Custom Dashboards: Creating calculated values and then plotting them

In custom dashboards today, we can't seem to create a calculated value and then plot it as a single line. For example:

1) Go to dashboards and create a new time series widget.

2) Use data source: Infrastructure & Platforms

3) For metrics, use whatever metric is of interest (I used TuxedoApp Service Broker Project > Service Brokers > Service Broker PSPTSDtlSvcC2 Throughput in our environment)

4) Set Aggregation to Max

5) Group by: top 5 host names

Lets say we had host 'A' that had a max value of 20 showing and host 'B' that had a max value of 30 showing. How do we 'sum' these two max values so that a single line of 50 would be shown?

Note - Creating a calculated metric like this can be done in other tools like Grafana. But why do we need to spend any effort on setting that up when we should just use the Instana dashboard for observability questions instead?

    Re 'under review status' -

This capability seems to now be available as of a latest release regarding the "Increase aggregation" feature: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/instana-observability/current?topic=saas-build-284

To answer the observability question of "Which service broker project(s) are contributing most of the volume for a particular service?", it is broken up/grouped by top 5 host name.

To answer the observability question of "What is the total throughput of all service broker projects combined for a particular service?", we can't answer that and is the point of this enhancement request.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for reaching out and submitting the enhancement idea.

Can you please confirm how do you currently use these summed values on the time series chart?
Do you compare this summed up metric values against other service broker throughput?

    Kind regards,
