Context:
Instana's Maintenance Windows feature offers, at the moment, either Application Perspective, Selected Entities (Dynamic Focus) or Synthetic Tests as scopes in order to generate silence windows.
Problem:
Maintenance Windows is the only feature available in Instana for creating silenced alerting timeframes.
Facing increasingly regulated teleworking EU laws and worker’s right to disconnect, in case of Application Perspectives that have Smart Alerts with Alerting Channels requested by legal teams to be silenced outside working hours, while Maintenance Windows can be used to meet compliance, the only way to achieve it is by duplicating Application Perspectives and differentiate them only by the Alert Channels legal requirement.
This approach generates confusion and adds complexity to Application Perspectives maintenance.
Suggestion:
Adding Alert Channels to Maintenance Windows scopes would avoid cloned Application Perspectives and improve the steps required for regulatory compliance.

Another application of the same requested feature: Silenced alerting windows for a specific alerting channel of an external support team.
When around the clock customer service is required, an external support provider will most likely fill in the extra required timeframe in order to achieve 24/7 support.
The requested feature will enable Instana to send corresponding Alerts and Smart Alerts to the alerting channel only during established timeframes, when the external support team is actively managing the service.
