This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

"Our CSM team should be able to assist and verify feasibility of different approaches before such larger efforts are put in."
After several meeting with our CSM team, it was decided that this is not the role which CSM supports and that off the books, which is the problem, the event and smart alerts should support 1000 events and 1000 smart alerts.
With the improvements of smart alerts, and hopefully are continuing to improve, we might be able to set warning and critical thresholds on a single smart alert, have a placeholder on the severity (warning|critical) that can be added to the email subject, that the alert title and the email subject are unlinked so we don't see the placeholders in the smart alert listing, and maybe just maybe, have a group/placeholder for the JVM name since an application server will have more than a few JVMs hosted on a single host.
Built in Events are are basically useless since you can not change the thresholds and in some cases the metric which it is based upon is unavailable as a custom event or a smart alert.
custom event - are a bit better than built-in events since you can change thresholds, but there is no way to inject dynamic content into the email subject line, which makes this almost as useless as a built-in event.
smart alert - has great promise and with the ability to add placeholders, into a dynamic email subject, and also allows to set the warning & critical thresholds, this is well on the path of being a really good solution. Far better than the 1600+ custom alerts that would need to be created with static titles that are the email subject line. With the current we could very well reduce the 1600 to about 170 and if we had a way to inject JVM name, that would be reduced to 5.
In this idea, as the smart alert is improved and made usable, the issue of limits are declining, but in larger shops, it would be very important to understand the capabilities and be able to plan accordingly.
As there are no hard limits like that and the amounts can change, the safeguards or configurable limitations are not planned to be shared publicly.
Our CSM team should be able to assist and verify feasibility of different approaches before such larger efforts are put in.
