Metric to see inflight request in each service

How to measure inflight request in each service? Number of request processed by application or service at any point in time. This is not same as request per second. An application may get many request at a time. In that how many are actually being processed by the application.


This is required for all services irrespective of technology or how it is deployed.

      Are there limitations with existing metrics (e.g., request rate, latency, error rate) that inflight request tracking would help address?

    3. Actionability
      Would this metric be used to trigger alerts, inform scaling decisions, or support incident response workflows?
