Clickhouse Retention based on age of data

We would like to move the data on the clickhouse based on the age of the data. For a monitoring tool the most recent data is the most important. But older data gets not looked at as often. So in an effort to reduce cost for storage we want to be able to move the older data on to cheaper less performant volumes. 
Clickhouse is capable of this as mentioned here https://clickhouse.com/docs/en/guides/developer/ttl . Since instana creates the tables and as far as we were able to gather is not filling a field on which this could be applied.
