This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Hi @Guest Based on the available information on this Aha! idea, it's unclear whether the customer is referring to a zombie or an orphan process. These two are often confused, but they behave differently and require different approaches for investigation.
Just to clarify:
A zombie process is one that has already terminated, but still appears in the process table as
<defunct>. This usually occurs when the parent process has not yet calledwait()to read the child's exit status. They remain in the process table until the parent reaps them. If the parent itself terminates, the OS (viainitor PID 1) automatically cleans up the zombie, removing it from the table. An orphan process is a process that is still running, but whose parent process has exited. In this case, the orphan is reparented to
init(PID 1) and continues to execute normally. Orphan processes are not necessarily an issue unless they were not meant to be left running.Could you please confirm which type of process are you are referring to?
Hello,
Any update regarding this?
This is not on the roadmap for the first half of 2025. It will be reevaluated afterward based on shifting priorities.
