Agent Installation - Can provide an option to over-write the default `/tmp/.instana` folder PATH location to a path of the customers choice

  • While enabling Java Virtual threads Customer lost tracing of event calls. Further debugging with Instana support team, they found that the issue is that Instana is losing its temporary files staged in `/tmp/.instana/*` folder.
  • As per Instana support, this is a hard coded setup and Instana cannot change where it stages its temporary files.
  • This is an issue with them, because our multiple running containers uses the same temp space for disk management and hence the files get cleaned-up or over-written by instana when it’s trying to monitor another container instance.
  • Request: They am really hoping that Instana can provide an option to over-write the default `/tmp/.instana` folder location to a path of our choice. This will help them to ensure that temporary files used by instana is not cleaned up by another process.
