Create menu to admin agent in as400

Request for Enhancement: Local Installation of Instana Agent on AS400

The security department has identified a potential vulnerability in the way the Instana agent is currently started. Currently, the user is granted *ALLOBJ permissions to execute the following command:

SBMJOB CMD(QSH CMD('export JAVA_HOME=<java-home>; exec bash <instana-agent-dir>/bin/start')) JOBQ(QUSRNOMAX)

This procedure could allow the user to manage other objects or tables within the system, posing a potential security risk.

Additionally, this method of starting and stopping the agent has a high operational impact on the bank’s operations, affecting overall efficiency and security.

Proposed Enhancement:

We suggest that the Instana agent be equipped with a management menu similar to the ITM for AS400 agent menu.
The proposed menu could include the following options:

1. Execute a specific command on the IBM i system to access the agent:
- Example: Go Insta

2. Within the menu, allow the user to select options to "Start" or "Stop" the agent in a more controlled and secure manner.
- Example:Select 1 to start, 2 to stop

This approach would reduce security risks and improve operational efficiency by providing a more accessible and secure way to manage the agent, minimizing vulnerabilities in the process.
