Obtain metrics for paging errors BD/NBD and PERM - TEMP addresses on the IBM i system

Clients have frequently inquired about the ability of Instana to provide additional metrics for IBM i environments. As we know, the current monitoring capabilities include key metrics related to jobs, subsystems, CPU and ASP capacity, history logs, and others. These provide valuable insights and a comprehensive view of system performance.

However, on multiple occasions, I have received requests for more in-depth metrics related to the IBM i operating environment. In particular, there is growing interest in metrics concerning paging errors (BD/NBD) and PERM–TEMP address spaces. These elements are especially important for system administrators, as they offer critical insights for identifying potential issues early and enabling proactive incident management.

Incorporating these metrics would significantly enhance the observability of IBM i environments and support better operational resilience and system optimization.
