Non-root installation of Instana agent

By installing the agent as a non-root user, the Instana administrator has the ability to stop, start, or reconfigure the agent without having to manage or request access as the root user. This process can sometimes take up to 24 hours to grant access, which can make it difficult to resolve an incident or perform an urgent reconfiguration within the Instana agent.

    Hi Oscar,

    this seems to be about interacting as an administrator with root-owned config files, etc.

    I think this can be achieved by other means:

    • Agent can be restarted through the Instana UI

    • Agent can be re-configured through gitOps feature

    • Permissions on Agent local files can also be changed, so that other users can interact with them.
