Mobile Application for Instana

The mobile app will provide end-to-end observability features from App Perspectives and Events to Analytics and Call Track Trace Views, including personalized alerting for teams and individuals. The goal is to deliver continuous insight and rapid issue response capabilities directly into the hands of engineers and business stakeholders, regardless of location.

  1. App Perspectives
Users can view high-level summaries of application health, service maps, KPIs, and availability metrics. These overviews provide quick context on which services or applications require attention.
  2. Event Feed
A real-time, categorized event stream helps users track anomalies, errors, and infrastructure changes. Events can be filtered by application, environment, or severity level.
  3. Analytics and Dashboards
Users will have access to pre-configured dashboards and analytics, enabling them to track latency trends, throughput changes, error spikes, and other key metrics.
  4. Call Trace Viewer
Full trace analysis tools allow users to drill into distributed transactions, identify bottlenecks, and trace the root cause of issues — directly on their device.
  5. Alerting and Notification System
Alerts will be delivered via push notifications and routed to the right users based on ownership rules, escalation paths, or incident severity.
    • Users can acknowledge, mute, or assign alerts.
    • Team-based alert routing ensures the right group is notified.
    • Integration with collaboration tools (Slack, Teams) supports immediate sharing of trace and event details.

Target users

  • Monitoring, DevOps and SRE teams needing fast, context-rich alert responses
  • Developers monitoring production deployments and debugging issues
  • On-call engineers responsible for uptime and incident resolution
  • Product owners and business leaders monitoring application SLAs and performance KPIs
