Support for FrankenPHP

FrankenPHP, a PHP server built on top of Caddy, was recently adopted by the PHP Foundation (see https://les-tilleuls.coop/en/blog/frankenphp-is-now-officially-supported-by-the-php-foundation and  https://github.com/php/frankenphp), and it can be used as a replacement for the widely used Nginx+PHP-FPM combo. It provides performance benefits, modern features, extensibility and much more. For many PHP-based applications it can serve as a drop-in replacement for other servers.

Ideally, this would work as the php-fpm integration. In theory, automatic PHP (8.2 and above with ZTS) tracing should work out-of-the-box, FrankenPHP ships with the interpreter built in, loads regular .ini files, etc., but I didn't try it out. Support for both the classic, and the worker mode would be ideal. The latter keeps the application in-memory (similarly to Node.JS).

Also, FrankenPHP support compiling the application into a truly static or almost-static binary, which makes it possible to deploy in a scratch docker image. Supporting the latter in Instana should be possible, at a glance the only challenge is detecting, that the container runs such a binary, so the same .so can be placed and activated, as for regular PHP support.

Note, since FrankenPHP is built on top of Caddy, it might be a good idea to support that as well, similarly to nginx, apache or haproxy.

    Hi Mate,

Given our current commitments to customers, prospects, and ongoing escalations, our roadmap is fully booked for the next ~3 quarters. As a result, we will not be able to prioritize this feature at this time. We are moving this request to "Not Under Consideration."

    Thank you for your understanding.
