As per Henning- 12 Nov-2025:
The Product team already stated that Magic XPI is not supported. Even basic JVM monitoring is not supported since we can't load our Java instrumentation.
Since SBM came back with a request to handle the case the same way as another one, by using the configuration-based Java SDK. Unfortunately this is not possible since we can't load our instrumentation code.
Another option for SBM is to instrument the application using the open source OpenTelemetry framework and OpenTelemetry Java SDK and send the data to Instana. This however is a setup where we can't consult or support.
Customer has Raised a new case as confirmed by Henning Treu for Java Tracing in ESB MagicXPI
TS020639987
Hi Henning Treu
What we understood was tracing was not possible as the application uses proprietary Java classes, can you check & confirm the same.
Thanks,
Praveen
Hi Kanan,
the bare JVM monitoring should work from what I could extract from the linked ticket. So bare JVM and java library tracing should work. Customer can open another support ticket for this with reference to this idea and my comment.
Magic xpi will not be on our mid-term priority list.
Best regards
Henning Treu - Product Manager Instana Agent
