Instana to monitor the IBM MQ's current channel connections percentage.

Currently, Instana does not provide metrics for the current channel connections as a percentage of the maximum allowed connections pool within IBM MQ. This metric is vital for proactive capacity and health monitoring of IBM MQ channels, enabling timely alerting before connection limits are reached and messaging disruptions occur.

We request the following enhancements in IBM Instana IBM MQ monitoring:

1.       Inclusion of the current IBM MQ channel connections metric expressed as a percentage of the maximum connections pool, with associated Smart Alert and Event support for threshold breaches.

2.       Ability to configure an exclusion list of IBM MQ services (e.g., specific queue managers, channels, or queue names) that the user does not want monitored, to tailor monitoring and reduce noise from non-critical services.

Given IBM MQ’s foundational role in banking and financial services middleware, and IBM’s commitment to comprehensive middleware monitoring under its brand, this enhancement addresses a basic yet critical monitoring function. It would widely benefit many customers who depend on IBM MQ for resilient and scalable messaging infrastructures.
