This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

This feature has been delivered in the SaaS release 318
Starting with Elasticsearch version 8.18, Elasticsearch introduced a new security entitlement framework that enforces strict permissions on what code running inside the Elasticsearch JVM is allowed to do. These entitlements restrict the dynamic agent attachment process. Because the Instana agent relies on dynamically attaching to the Elasticsearch JVM for instrumentation, the entitlement checks in 8.18 and later block the attach operation, preventing Instana from collecting metrics. Our implementation will have limit that will manifest as an absence of JVM in Dynamic Graph. Our competitors are using the same approach.
ETA for this feature is 2Q, 2026.
This has been open for far beyond the 45 Day SLA your documentation lists for supporting new elasticsearch releases. When can we expect this?
Do we have any update ?
Elasticsearch has already reached till version 9.2.x and Instana has added support for Elasticsearch 8.18 as part of future release with no estimated date.
Can you please help us with support ?
Any specific reason to push this to "Future Release" with no timelines. ElasticSearch is a very popular technology and in recent times they have been moving faster with their releases. They have already released v9 as well, so the expectation here is to keep up with their releases as we don't want Instana to be a limiting factor for us to move forward.
