RELATED IDEAS

Enable Events, Alerts, and Dashboards for OracleDB Custom Polling Metrics

Currently, Instana does not support creating Events, Alerts, or Custom Dashboards based on the OracleDB custom polling metrics documented here: Monitoring OracleDB.

Several of our clients who use OracleDB have requested the ability to leverage these custom polling metrics for alerting and visualization. This would allow them to:

  • Proactively monitor key OracleDB performance indicators.

  • Detect issues earlier by setting up alerts on business-critical metrics.

  • Build more complete dashboards tailored to their operational needs.

Business Impact:
Without this capability, clients are limited to a subset of available metrics, which reduces the overall value of Instana for OracleDB monitoring. Adding support for custom polling metrics in Events, Alerts, and Dashboards would significantly improve observability and align the feature set with real customer requirements.

We kindly request that this enhancement be considered for the product roadmap.

    Our Infrastructure Smart Alerts provide most metrics for OracleDB, but I assume you didn't find the custom polling metrics here.


    I have routed the Idea to our Sensors team to see if these custom polling metrics can be sent along the existing ones.
