This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Nick - Thanks for the clarification. We understand the core ask is purely around local file management, not UI-based config control. We are investigating whether the IDOT supervisor can be updated to support multiple
--configflags at launch, which is already supported natively by the upstream OTel Collector. We will follow up once we have a response from the engineering team on feasibility and timeline.Brijesh - Thanks for the additional context. Based on your description, your ask has two components. First, support for multiple OTel config files to manage log parsing patterns at scale across agent machines. Second, a centralized view in Instana to manage and push those configurations from the platform. On the second point, we already have a preview feature using OpAMP that allows you to visualize telemetry pipelines and push new configurations to your collectors directly from Instana. We already have plans of expanding on both these points on our roadmap to maintain configurations for your agent/collector fleet from the platfrom itself.
We will start rolling out these enhancements starting Q4 tentatively.
I would like to invite you to a call to discuss this further. Would you be open to a call with our product and design team?
Hi, This is marked as needs more info. What information are you waiting for?
Please add more context.
Are you using Instana agent with OTel collectors? Or are you using collector yaml and agent yaml simultaneously?
We have a new preview feature where you can visualize the telemetry pipelines for OTel collectors within Instana and also push new configuration to your collectors using OpAMP.
Please confirm, looking forward to your response.
Kind regards,
Paras Kampasi
We would like to request a feature in Instana that allows administrators to centrally view and manage agent configurations.
Support for multiple OpenTelemetry configuration files with regex-based logfile matching in the Instana agent would help address scaling issues during production rollouts.
Please consider developing a feature in Instana that allows administrators to view and manage agent configurations centrally.
Currently, enabling support for multiple OpenTelemetry configuration files with regex-based logfile matching in the Instana agent would help address scaling challenges. This enhancement would simplify production rollouts by allowing diverse log patterns to be managed and deployed across agent machines more efficiently.
Kindly consider to develop a functionality in instana where admins can see and control the agent configurations. Given the current scenario if instana agent can support multiple open telemetry files configurations for a Regex pattern match for logfiles. this will resolve Scaling issue during production roll-out of all kind of patterns on agents machines from instana.
