When running Stanctl up, it should be possible to run without doing an update.

If there is a new version of backend available. You can`t run Stanctl up without doing an update or cancel Stanctl up. It should be possible to do an Stanctl without update. 
Because if you have some issue and have to restore VM. You want to run stanctl down and up, without any changes.

    Thanks for the idea

    It is possible to run stanctl up without performing an update, but there are some conditions:

    • When you run stanctl up, we check if an upgrade is required. You can choose to skip the update if everything is compatible.

    • If you update your stanctl CLI and the backend version is not compatible with this new CLI version, then an update of the backend is required.

    • If you do not change your stanctl version, you can skip the backend update.

    • In short:

      • Same CLI version: You can run stanctl up without updating the backend.

      • New CLI version: If it’s compatible, you can skip the backend update; if not, the update is mandatory.

    To verify compatibility between stanctl and backend versions, please refer to the Compatibility Matrix in the IBM documentation.
