System IPL Information after IPL to be updated on Instana

Our teams have a need for Instana to automatically retrieve and update key system‑level information from the HMC after every IPL. This would help ensure that system data remains accurate and up‑to‑date within Instana dashboards without requiring any manual updates.

Specifically, we would like Instana to be able to collect and refresh fields such as:

  • System Name

  • Hostname

  • IP Address

  • CPC Name

  • CPC Serial Number

  • Sysplex

  • LPAR ID

  • z/OS Version

  • IPL Date

  • IPL Volume

  • IPL Address

  • Load Parm

    Sorry for the delay on response, the tool didn't notified us about your question.

    Neha is aware of eveything but let me describe better things that we are expecting to see.

    When we enter Instana, click Platforms/IBM Z HMC option, we see the list of HOSTNAMES, on that screen we expect to see some fast information like number of partitions that are up/down withtout needing to click HMC to check it.

    After clicking the HMC inside it we would like to see what Raveena described on this IDEA, in fields, keeping current fiels we have today, but adding the fields below with its informations about each LPAR:

    -System Name
    -Hostname
    -IP Address
    -CPC Name
    -CPC Serial Number
    -Sysplex
    -LPAR ID
    -z/OS Version
    -IPL Date
    -IPL Volume
    -IPL Address
    -Load Parm

    We would like to get more understanding on what the use case for this static information is. Which user personna would be using this? Why is it requested to be displayed in Instana instead of traditional z/OS screens? Is it because the user wants to have all information in a single tool like Instana? How often does IPL happens? etc.
