Improve Custom Service rules in the UI and the backend

Hi,

We need to adjust the service naming for some services as the automatically discovered names are not allowing us to monitor the services in context of the line of business and production environment.

Adjustable custom service rules - regex enabled

Therefore we need to change the names but we can not use the environment variable "INSTANA_SERVICE_NAME" in all cases due to technical constraints that are not in our hands - e.g. Windows Failover Cluster systems strip environment variables from a process and only allow system wide variables.

Custom service rules seem like the way out here, but there is - at least according to the documentation and testing - no way to perform string manipulation within those rules.

We need to aggregate processes e.g. with consecutive numbers into one service:

MyProcess_01.exe

MyProcess_02.exe

MyProcess_03.exe

All perform the same service and should be grouped under the servicename "MyProcess" but right now the services are named like the process which is not helpful

Scope - per zone/agent group

Additionally the custom service rules can only be applied globally per default and we need to apply them only on selected agents/zones (several 1000s of agents and 10.000s of services).

Thanks and regards,

Rainer
