Extend Instana Selective Monitoring by technology and process properties

In its current form, Selective Monitoring requires changes to all applications / processes which should be monitored in an opt-in scenario.

Making changes only only in the agent to select applications / processes would keep Instana specific configuration out of customers deployment process.

The agent configuration should provide a way to select / filter applications / processes for monitoring based on the following properties:

  • technology (sensor)

  • process name

  • process arguments

  • process environment variables and env var values
