Implement sensor for observability of applications developed in PowerBuilder

PowerBuilder remains a crucial framework for massive, traditional ERP and financial systems in sectors such as government, healthcare, and banking. These applications are the backbone of many organizations, but they lack modern observability.

Without native support, our monitoring strategy is in a critical situation: we can see the server status, but not user transactions, database latencies, or internal application failures. Adding this support would allow IBM Instana to penetrate the enterprise modernization market more effectively, offering vi sibility where the competition cannot.

Who would benefit from it?

Enterprise customers: Organizations that rely on “integrated” systems built on PowerBuilder.

SRE and operations teams: Finally, they will be able to perform root cause analysis (RCA) on application crashes or slowdowns without the need for manual debugging.

IBM/Instana: Increases the tool's “stickiness” in complex environments where complete visibility of the stack is currently incomplete.

In this case, this requirement comes from a major healthcare provider with a high-density implementation.
