Add `stanctl plan` sub-command for planning stuff (e.g. upgrade, storage) in day 2

It’s a huge pain point nowadays when tying to do some day 2 operations at Instana backend.

For example, when trying to upgrade to one desired version from current installed version, there might be a few “jumps”, based on the “upgrade from” info, to plan out the potential upgrade path. Let’s take current latest version, which is v1.0.315, as an example: can anyone tell me how can I upgrade to this version from v1.0.301 in 15 minutes, with confidence?

It takes time (and huge risks) to plan out the upgrade path.

And in most of the cases, we have to try it out a few rounds to make sure that “the upgrade path to be proposed works”.

It would be great to offer a subcommand like:

stanctl plan [subject]

Where we have desired subjects. For example:

  • stanctl plan upgrade --from x [--to y]: to plan out the upgrade path from one specific version x to the version y, which might be optional, that the stanctl CLI supports / understands.
  • stanctl plan storage: to discover the current storage usage and the growth pattern, so that we can have a more proactive planning.
  • Etc.
